Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) promotes social behavior through mTORC1 in the excitatory neurotransmission

چکیده

Significance Social behavior (SB) is a fundamental hallmark of human interaction. Repeated administration low doses the 5-HT 2A agonist lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) in mice enhances SB by potentiating and AMPA receptor neurotransmission mPFC via an increasing phosphorylation mTORC1, protein involved modulation SB. Moreover, inactivation glutamate impairs nullifies prosocial effects LSD. Finally, LSD requires integrity mTORC1 excitatory glutamatergic, but not inhibitory neurons, to produce effects. This study unveils mechanism contributing role agonism

The paradoxical psychological effects of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).

BACKGROUND Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is a potent serotonergic hallucinogen or psychedelic that modulates consciousness in a marked and novel way. This study sought to examine the acute and mid-term psychological effects of LSD in a controlled study. METHOD A total of 20 healthy volunteers participated in this within-subjects study. Participants received LSD (75 µg, intravenously) on on...

Tricyclic antidepressant drugs: attenuation of excitatory effects of d-lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) on acoustic startle response.

At a dose of 5 mg/kg, the tricyclic antidepressant drugs chlorimlpramine (ClMI), desipramine (DMI), Imipramlne (IMI), ii and chlordeslpramine (C-DMI) all blocked the excitatory effects of a low dose (30 _g/kg) of LSD on the acoustic startle response in the rat. Over a dose range from I-5 " , mg/kg, CIMI and DMI were about equally potent in blocking the LSD effect, despite the fact that both dru...

RNA synthesis in isolated brian nuclei after administration of d-lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) in vivo.

RNA synthesis in isolated brain nuclei was analyzed 2.5 hr after the intravenous administration of d-lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) to young rabbits. The drug stimulated transcription by 54% in brain stem nuclei and by 13% in cerebral hemisphere nuclei expressed over saline controls. Both nucleoplasmic and nucleolar RNA synthesis were increased. The main activity in the isolated nuclei assay ...
